On behalf of the Association of Yale Alumni in Medicine and the Office for Women in Medicine, we are thrilled to introduce the Yale School of Medicine Women’s Alumnae-Student Mentorship Program, an opportunity for women alumnae of Yale School of Medicine to share their knowledge and experience with current women YSM students. Alumnae mentors will be paired with students and will offer guidance and advice about professional concerns such as choosing a speciality and following an academic versus non-academic career path, as well as issues outside of the workplace such as work-life balance and starting a family during training. Participation in the program will enable alumnae to reconnect with and stay connected to their medical school, and to forge meaningful relationships with students at an earlier point in their medical careers. The amount of time involved and level of commitment will be flexible for both alumnae and students, ranging from email, Skype and telephone communication to in-person meetings.
