Stimulation of the nCRF with the CRF results in a large increase in amplitude of visually evoked inhibitory, but not excitatory, postsynaptic potentials

The IPSPs and EPSPs evoked by CRF and nCRF+CRF stimuli were examined by holding the cells at either -75 mV (EPSPs) or at 0 mV (IPSPs) with microelectrodes that contained QX314 and CS+ to block Na+ and K+ conductances. Note that the CRF+nCRF (3X) stimulation dramatically increased the size of visually evoked IPSPs but not EPSPs.
