The Feedback Inhibitory Conductance is Precisely Proportional to the Excitatory Conductance E versus I

Plots of the calculated inhibitory versus the excitatory conductance reveal a relatively linear relationship (part d). The amplitude of the inhibitory and excitatory conductances are directly related to the amplitude of the multiple unit activity in layer 5. These results indicate that within the cortex, feedback inhibition is proportional and balanced with recurrent excitation.
