Public Health informatics applies to informatics and public health expertise effectively and efficiently to inform and improve the practice of public health and data science.

  • The application of integrated resources for health services research, global health, environmental health, occupational health and syndromic surveillance are vital to growth of these key public health areas.
  • Population health requires informatics expertise in the areas of big data, data visualization etc.
  • Principles of decision science (such as probability revision with Bayes’ rule, appropriate test selection and interpretation, understanding of evidence quality, preference and values elicitation) will be applied and taught in collaboration with the Director of Education.
