The PDQ Cancer Genetics Editorial Board is the National Cancer Institute's database containing current cancer information. The database contains: 1) peer-reviewed, evidence-based cancer information summaries for health professionals and patients in the areas of cancer genetics, screening, prevention, treatment of adults and children, supportive care, and complementary and alternative medicine; 2) detailed descriptions of clinical trials that are open to patient accrual, as well as those that have been closed or completed; and 3) a directory of genetics professionals who provide services to those in

The PDQ Cancer Genetics Editorial Board was formed in April 1998 to address the need for health professionals and patients to have access to accurate, evidence-based information on cancer genetics. The function of the Board is to develop new PDQ cancer genetics information summaries and maintain existing summaries related to breast, ovarian, colon, prostate, skin, kidney, and endocrine cancer genetics as well as a general overview summary and a summary pertaining to risk assessment and counseling.

The Board consists of approximately 30 members. The Board is comprised of individuals with diverse expertise to ensure that information about cancer genetics is evaluated from perspectives that include epidemiology, primary care, ethics, and psychology and the social sciences, as well as medical genetics. The Kidney Cancer Working Group is responsible for maintaining the Genetics of Kidney Cancer summary.
