59th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
The 59th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry was held in October in San Francisco, CA. A reception hosted by Fred Volkmar, chair, and Dorothy Stubbe, training director, on behalf of the Yale Child Study Center was held, welcoming current departmental members and alumni. 2020 Lustman Resident Research Awards announced
The Yale Department of Psychiatry is pleased to announce that Albert Higgens-Chen, MD, PhD, and Kartik Pattabiraman, MD, PhD, are the first place co-recipients of the 2020 Seymour Lustman Resident Research Award in Psychiatry. Amalia Londono Tobon, MD, received honorable mention.
Calhoun, Roxas Receive Award from Yale Psychiatry's Bertram H. Roberts Memorial Fund to Complete Global Mental Health Research
Amanda J. Calhoun, MD, MPH, resident in the Albert J. Solnit Integrated Adult/Child Psychiatry program, and second-year resident Nichole Roxas, MD, MPH, recently received an award from the Department of Psychiatry's Bertram H. Roberts Memorial Fund to complete research related to global mental health and social psychiatry.
Ni Feng receives a 2020 Warren Alpert Distinguished Scholar Award
Ni Fend, a postdoctoral researcher in Elena Gracheva's lab, has become a 2020 Warren Alpert Distinguished Scholar. Her project "Hanging in the Balance: Fluid Homeostasis in Hibernation" aims to reveal fundamental knowledge about how hibernation enables some species to survive over an entire winter without water. This project will use the thirteen-lined ground squirrel as a model system to dissect and manipulate the neural circuits that regulate fluid balance across torpor and arousal states during hibernation.
Eric Brandt selected for ACC young investigator award
Eric J. Brandt MD, a postdoctoral fellow at Yale Cardiovascular Medicine, was selected as a finalist for the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Young Investigator Award. He will present his research at the annual Scientific Session March 29.
Taylor Receives the “Distinguished Scientist Award” from Society for Reproductive Investigation for 2020
The 2020 Society for Reproductive Investigation “Distinguished Scientist Award” is given to Hugh S. Taylor, MD, chair of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at Yale.
NICU & Stroke Team to Present, Receive Awards at International Stroke Conference
Researchers at the Yale School of Medicine’s Neurointensive Care Unit (NICU) and Stroke division will present new, scientific findings and receive several major awards at the International Stroke Conference in Los Angeles from February 19 – 21, 2020.
Laura E. Niklason Is Elected to the National Academy of Engineering
Laura E. Niklason, PhD, MD, Nicholas Greene Professor of Anesthesiology and professor of biomedical engineering, has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering, which cites her contributions to research in cardiovascular tissue engineering, lung regeneration, and biomedical imaging.
Three Faculty Honored With VA Career Development Award
Lynnette Averill, PhD, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry; Lorig Kachadourian, PhD, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry; and Janitza Montalvo-Ortiz, PhD, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, were honored by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs with its Career Development Award.
