Other Post Translational Modifications
Other post translational modifications besides phosphorylation that are commonly searched for and identified include but are not limited to ubiquitination1, SUMOylation, methylation, acetylation, and decarboxylation. Procedures are also in place for identification of sites of palmitoylation2 and glycosylation. Samples can be submitted in gel bands or in solution.
The solution samples will be brought through a clean-up step using an extraction or precipitation method prior to digestion in order to remove buffer components.
