Yale Program for Medicine, Spirituality, and Religion Spring 2021: "Death: Lessons from History"

Brother Columba Thomas, OP, MD, is a Dominican friar studying for the priesthood and a physician specializing in Internal Medicine. He grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated from the University of Dayton with a BA in Music and a BS in Premedical Studies. He went on to medical school at Yale, where he graduated in 2012 with distinction and one of the top prizes for his thesis entitled, "Foretelling the Future of Prognostication: A Historically-Inspired, Domain-Based Approach for the Elderly." His publications have appeared in a variety of medical journals, including JAMA Internal Medicine, Journal of General Internal Medicine, and Journal of the American Geriatrics Society. He completed a Primary Care Residency and Chief Residency at Yale and attained board certification in Internal Medicine before joining the Dominicans in 2016. His current clinical and research interests include geriatrics, end-of-life care, prognosis, and bioethics.
