Psychiatry/Psychology

We screen refugees for mental health problems during the first and subsequent visits. Refugees that are identified as having potential mental health issues undergo a comprehensive evaluation by our consultant psychiatrist, Maya Prabhu, MD. Refugees that require long-term psychiatric care are triaged into different levels and types of care based on severity and nature of the psychiatric condition. Some refugees receive care at CMHC, some are cared for by psychiatry and psychology fellows in the Refugee Clinic, and some are treated by their primary care physicians.
