We are pleased to announce that Dr. Jennifer Renz will be joining the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science as an Associate Professor effective September 1, 2023. She will be joining us from Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
Dr. Renz is a board-certified ophthalmologist with subspecialty training in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery. She received a B.A. in studio art at Dartmouth College and received her medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine. She completed her ophthalmology residency and fellowship in oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery at New England Eye Center at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. After training, she joined the faculty at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and the White River Junction Veterans Administration Medical Center providing tertiary care for complex eyelid and orbit issues, maintaining a cataract surgery practice, and contributing to the start of a new ophthalmology residency program.
Dr. Renz has published in numerous journals in the peer review literature including the Archives of Ophthalmology, co-authored a book chapter in “The Infected Eye,” and acted as an editor of the Grand Rounds section of Ocular Surgery News. She has presented at local, national, and international conferences. She is dedicated to clinical care and education, and her clinical practice covers a broad range of ocular disorders including ptosis repair, blepharoplasty, entropion and ectropion surgery, management of benign tumors and cancers of the eyelids and orbit, Mohs reconstruction, facial trauma and orbital reconstruction, lacrimal obstruction, thyroid eye disease, and orbital inflammation.
Dr. Renz will be joining our department during a time of significant growth in our clinical, research, and teaching missions. She will be joining Dr. Michelle Maeng in the division of oculoplastic surgery in our department. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Renz as an outstanding professional colleague and as the newest member of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at the Yale School of Medicine.
