Research Summary
The Complex Sports Injury Research Team is composed of attending surgeons & radiology faculty, orthopaedic surgery residents, medical students and undergraduate students that look to improve patient diagnosis, clinical care and surgical outcomes through collaborative efforts. Our team utilizes radiology and MRI resources, clinical and insurance data bases and clinical outcome assessments to improve our ability to make accurate diagnoses, plan surgical and non-surgical treatments, evaluate treatments and outcomes.
Secondary to our participation with our Level-1 trauma center, our surgeons see patients with high-velocity and poly-trauma injuries, which are at the outer end of the spectrum of complex injuries. Periarticular fractures, ligament injuries, multiple-ligament injuries and joint dislocations are among these complicated injuries that get referred to our hospital for our capability to manage these conditions, sometimes in conjunction with our other affiliated surgical and medical consultants.
