Overview
Brianna R. Fram, MD, is an orthopaedic trauma surgeon who says she enjoys the variety of her work and making an immediate difference in patients’ lives.
“I am usually seeing people after an acute injury, whether from a car or motorcycle crash, a sports accident, or a simple trip or fall,” Dr. Fram says. Recognizing that coming to the hospital with an injury is understandably stressful for patients, Dr. Fram says she makes sure to walk them through the steps. “Recovering from an injury is a process. The first part of that is a conversation to decide on the right treatment for that specific patient,” she says.
Dr. Fram knows providing patients with information in advance can make it easier to deal with the “life” issues, like time off of work, that often accompany an injury. “I counsel people on what the surgery will entail, expected restrictions while they recover, how we will control their pain,” she says. “I like for them to know what to expect when they wake up. They will follow up with me in the office afterward. We will monitor their healing and work on their range of motion, strength, and anything else they need.”
Dr. Fram’s clinical research interests include outcomes following ballistic fractures and optimizing post-operative protocols.
