About

Biography

Emily Johns is a Ph.D. student in Computational Biology and Biomedical Informatics at Yale. She graduated from Harvard College as a double major in classics and neuroscience, where her thesis on early psychosis combined modern neuroimaging with a philological study of ancient Greek medical texts, revealing striking parallels between ancient medicine and current psychiatric understanding of hallucinations and delusions.

After Harvard, Emily worked as a Clinical Research Assistant at McLean Hospital, then joined Stanford University as a Data Analyst focusing on large-scale clinical data harmonization projects. These experiences shaped her interest in applying computational methods to real healthcare problems.

Beyond her research, Emily is passionate about technology commercialization and translating scientific work into practical applications. She reads widely, from systems theory to contemporary literature to the philosophy of science, to inform how she thinks about problems.
