    Biography

    Kate Bowie, Ph.D., has been Postdoctoral Fellow as part of the National Library of Medicine T15 Biomedical Informatics Postdoctoral Fellowship at Yale University since January 2024. She is co-advised by Mark Gerstein and Jordan Peccia. She earned her Ph.D. in biomedical engineering at Oregon Health and Science University studying the urinary microbiome in the context of prostate cancer. Dr. Bowie specializes in environmental metagenomics, with a focus on wastewater surveillance, and has extensive expertise in analyzing metagenomics and 16S rRNA gene sequencing data from low-microbial biomass environments. Her research aims to understand human disease by investigating microbial communities in environmental samples.
