Tessa Madden, MD, MPH

Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences; Chief, Section of Family Planning ; Program Director, Complex Family Planning Fellowship

I am a professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at Yale School of Medicine (YSM). I feel fortunate to have a career where I am engaged in patient care, clinical research, and education of medical students, residents, and fellows. Prior to joining YSM in 2023, I was on faculty at Washington University School of Medicine for 15 years, where I spent almost 10 years serving as an advisor and then, as a coach for medical students. I found my relationships with students to be enormously rewarding, especially the relationship with my small coaching group. I was drawn to the YSM Longitudinal Coaching Program because I believe coaching can help medical students be more successful in clinical skills development, professional identify formation, and wellness. I have benefited from coaching personally and professionally, and want to help the next generation of physicians flourish.
