Disease Spectrum

Clinical Responsibilities

  • No night or weekend calls
  • Research is not a focus for this medical care rotation

Logistics

  • Reimbursement Award amount: $3500
  • On campus housing is provided at a subsidized rate
  • Language requirements: English spoken throughout Uganda, Luganda lessons provided to all scholars at twice weekly lunch session
  • Required paperwork: Ugandan visa, Ugandan Medical License
  • Six 6 week rotations blocks are available; for the weeks starting August 13, September 24, November 5 in 2012 and January 14, February 25 and April 8 in 2013.  Please refer to these dates on the application form.
  • Due to the capacity-building efforts of the Makerere University/Yale University collaboration, there are many coordinated opportunities to experience more of Uganda through outreach opportunities at St. Stephen’s Hospital, Holy Family Nazareth Secondary School and other local CBOs and through trips to Gulu, Kansesero and Rwanda.
