Clinical Science Lecture: Evening Series

  • Tuesdays, 6:00 – 7:00 pm, Zoom
  • The object of this Tuesday evening lecture series is to allow interested practitioners, including those at the neighboring Coast Guard and Naval Submarine bases, to receive an update on cutting edge developments at the interface between basic sciences and clinical practice. The practitioners prefer case-based presentations.

Medical Grand Rounds

  • Grand Rounds are attended by the St. Mary’s Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program residents, med students and faculty.
  • Preferred format is case based and interactive.
  • Anticipated audience size is 30-40.

Noon Housestaff Teaching Conference

  • Daily, 12:00-1:00pm, Auditorium, Conference Center 2nd Floor
  • These lectures are the core didactic inpatient lectures for the residency program.
  • Presentations are encouraged to be case based and interactive. Presentations may be sent to Dan Keifer, Residency Technical Support, by email at dkeifer@trinityhealthofne.org in advance if this is more convenient.
  • References for additional reading or other handouts may also be given to Dan for copying and distribution.
  • Anticipated audience size is 15-25.

Enter the main hospital from the third level of the Visitors Garage, crossing the bridge to the second floor of the main hospital. Once in the main hospital, follow the signs for "Bridge to Conference Center". Cross the bridge, go through the double doors and enter the auditorium on the left.

Norwalk Hospital

GI Section Conferences

  • Designed for attendings, fellows, residents and students on elective, these conferences are arranged with the specialty representative at Norwalk Hospital. A case will be presented, discussed informally and a selected topic will be reviewed.

  • The Cardiology Section conferences are for board certified cardiologists. It is requested that the scheduled speakers keep this in mind while preparing their talk. Some housestaff may also attend.

Housestaff Conferences

  • Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 12:30 – 1:30 pm, 1st Floor, in Advanced Learning Center Room: McGraw A
  • An annual lunchtime conference series provides review of the core curriculum for Norwalk housestaff. Speakers coming to Norwalk should include in their presentations how individual patient characteristics impact on presentation and management. Specifically, differences between men and women, ethnic/racial or age groups that are potentially clinically important to the internist should be included in the presentation. Medical students will also attend. All these conferences are teleconferenced to the Norwalk Community Health Center so that residents on our Ambulatory rotation are able to participate.

Grand Rounds

  • Thursdays, 8:00 – 9:00 am, Perkin Auditorium (Except for the first Thursday of the month when it is from 9:00-10:00am)
  • Subjects/topics to be discussed are arranged by the Chief of Medicine. Commuter congestion along I-95 and/or the Merritt Parkway is expected to be very heavy again this year. Please allow 2 hours from New Haven to Norwalk for Grand Rounds.

Please park in the Visitor’s Lot (we will give you a pass at the end of your stay). Walk up the flight of cement steps and enter the main entrance of the hospital. Turn left at the long corridor.
