Dr. Jennifer Ogilvie will join the Department of Surgery as Section Chief of Endocrine Surgery, beginning Dec. 1. Dr. Ogilvie joins the Yale School of Medicine faculty via New York University Grossman School of Medicine, where she was Associate Professor of Surgery and Director of Endocrine Surgery.

“We are delighted to welcome another female surgical leader to our department,” said Department of Surgery Chair, Dr. Nita Ahuja.

Dr. Ogilvie succeeds Dr. Tobias Carling as Section Chief of Endocrine Surgery, within the Division of Surgical Oncology. Her recruitment follows a competitive, nationwide search, led by Korn Ferry.

“Dr. Ogilvie is a remarkable addition to our team. Her expertise and work focus stands out as an honorable example of how we can leverage the tripartite mission to drive diversity and inclusion into health care,” said Division Chief of Surgical Oncology, Dr. Ronald Salem, who co-chaired the search committee.

As an Endocrine Surgeon across the New York University Langone Health Center, and as Director of Endocrine Surgery at Bellevue Hospital, Dr. Ogilvie led several clinical research initiatives to evaluate disparities in endocrine surgery. Her medical education research focuses on the qualitative analysis of resilience and teamwork in surgery, as they relate to patient safety and quality care — a body of work she looks forward to pursuing at Yale.

Collaboration, compassion, and caring in surgery, and in academia, have never been more important, and I look forward to joining the community at Yale, where these core values are foundational to the mission.
