Dr. Kurt Roberts Joins Surgical Residency Leadership

The Department of Surgery is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kurt Roberts to the position of Associate Program Director for the General Surgery Residency Program, and Surgical Residency Director for the St. Raphael’s Campus. Dr. Roberts will collaborate with leadership on the recruitment, teaching, assessment activities, and daily functions of the general surgical residents.

“Dr. Roberts brings a wealth of experience in his roles as a busy clinician and a notable teacher who is well-respected and admired by our trainees,” said General Surgery Residency Program Director, Dr. Peter Yoo.

Dr. Roberts is an Associate Professor in the MIS/Bariatrics Division, and Director of the Bariatrics/Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship. Early in his career at Yale, Dr. Roberts was instrumental in establishing the Department's simulation laboratory. In 2017, Dr. Roberts he was honored with the Storer Award, a teaching recognition bestowed by the graduating chief residents of the department.

“This appointment gives necessary recognition to Dr. Roberts’ service as a surgical educator throughout his career at Yale. We are most grateful and proud to honor his generosity of knowledge and passion with an official title,” said Department of Surgery Chair, Dr. Nita Ahuja.
