Biography
Dr Stephanie L. Thorn, MSc, PhD is a Assistant Professor in the Section of Cardiovascular Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine. Dr Thorn received her PhD at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute in Cellular and Molecular Medicine. She is currently the Associate Director of the Yale Translational Research Imaging Center (YTRIC). Her research interests are centered on cardiovascular imaging, using PET, SPECT and CT to develop new approaches in the interrogation of molecular pathways, quantification of blood flow and alterations myocardial function. Dr Thorn specifically pursues translational research in ischemia-reperfusion remodeling, myocardial infarction and right ventricular heart failure.

- Contrast CT images of a normal myocardium and one with right ventricle heart failure.
- Using non-invasive SPECT/CT hybrid imaging, the reduced perfusion area can be quantified. At 3-days post-ischemia, the same area shows an increase in the radiotracer uptake of the matrix metalloproteinase agent, Tc-99m RP805. This tracer is an index of cardiac remodeling.
