Biography
Dr. Andres Martin is the Riva Ariella Ritvo Professor at the Child Study Center, and Director of the Teaching and Learning Center’s Standardized Patient Program, Yale School of Medicine. He is also medical director for the Children's Psychiatric Inpatient Service at Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital. Dr. Martin will serve as academic advisor to the CHATogether program.

Overview
Andrés S. Martin, MD, PhD, is a child and adolescent psychiatrist who cares for children and adolescents facing mental and emotional challenges. As medical director for the Children’s Psychiatric Inpatient Service at Yale New Haven Hospital, Dr. Martin works with young people experiencing serious psychiatric challenges by providing personalized approaches to foster healthy coping skills and resilience.
“My career as a child psychiatrist has been all about maximizing individuals’ developmental potential,” he says.
As the Riva Ariella Ritvo Professor at the Child Study Center and a professor of psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Martin has contributed to global child mental health resources, including serving in editorial roles to promote effective care for youth. He is also a faculty affiliate at Yale School of Medicine’s Center for Medical Education, where he develops innovative training techniques for medical professionals. “I have a career-long academic interest and interpersonal commitment to mentorship,” he says.
Dr. Martin completed his medical training at Anahuac University in Mexico City, followed by an internship in internal medicine at the University of Miami and psychiatry residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General & McLean Hospitals. Dr. Martin obtained a master’s degree in chronic disease epidemiology at the Yale School of Public Health, and a doctorate in medical education at the Groningen University in the Netherlands.
