Student Psychiatric Association to participate in Walk to Prevent Suicide

September 24, 2015

The Yale Medical Student Psychiatric Association has formed a team to participate in the Out of the Darkness Community Walk in Hamden on Oct. 4.

The walk benefits the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, which works to raise awareness about the impact of suicide in communities nationwide.

The event will begin with check in and registration at 11 a.m. at Hamden Town Center Park next to Hamden Middle School, 2623 Dixwell Ave. The walk starts at 12:30 p.m.

Elizabeth Chen, an MD candidate in the Class of 2016, who will participate with the team, "Yale PMH and YMSPA," said the event allows people to see how suicide has impacted the community. Team members are accepting donations and volunteers to walk with them.

The public is also encouraged to participate. For information, call Emily or Marie at 203-903-4841 or email hamdenafsp@gmail.com
