Living & Working in New Haven
Wages & Benefits
Doctoral psychology fellows receive a salary from Yale University, which is paid in 12 equal installments at the end of each month. Fellows’ first payment is at the end of July. The salary for the 2023-2024 internship year will be at least $38,069.
All fellows are required to have health insurance. Yale University provides medical coverage to trainees through the Yale Health Plan (https://yalehealth.yale.edu/). Fellows are assessed a monthly contribution from their salary according to the plan they select (i.e., single, single + child(ren); single + spouse; family). While many fellows enroll in this plan, trainees may also select a Yale sponsored private health plan at an additional cost (unless they are a current graduate student in the Yale Department of Psychology). Current costs for health insurance plans are available for review here.
Fellows are considered Postdoctoral Associated within the Yale University Human Resources System and are afforded a range of benefits related to this designation. Prospective applicants are encouraged to review the available benefits here.
Four weeks of paid leave is also provided.
