Biography

Dr. Areti Vassilopoulos is a pediatric psychologist and Assistant Professor of Clinical Child Psychology at Yale School of Medicine. She received her doctoral education through Nova Southeastern University, while serving families clinically across south Florida. She completed her doctoral internship in Pediatric Psychology at Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, followed by a fellowship within the Psychiatry Consultation Service and Pediatric Transplant Service at Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Vassilopoulos works within the Yale Child Study Center (YCSC) and Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH). Through YNHH, she works within Pediatric Neurology to provide integrated behavioral health care. At YCSC, Dr. Vassilopoulos provides outpatient therapy and assessment services to youth with a variety of mental health, behavioral, educational, and medical presentations. Additionally, Dr. Vassilopoulos and colleagues are involved in the implementation of a brief workshop for pain management, Comfort Ability Program, which has been modified for virtual implementation.

With regards to research, Dr. Vassilopoulos focuses on quality improvement initiatives, mental health screening and referrals within medical ambulatory clinics, as well as somatic symptom disorders and chronic pain within inpatient and outpatient pediatric populations.
