Neurocritical Care and Emergency Neurology
Welcome to the Yale Division of Neurocritical Care and Emergency Neurology. Here, you will find a multidisciplinary team dedicated to improving the lives of patients and families who have suffered from acute neurological injury. Our neurointensivists, neurosurgeons, nurses, and therapists work together in one of the two dedicated neuroscience intensive care units in Connecticut. Our team consists of international leaders in clinical care, research, and education.
Additionally, Yale is proud to be the recipient of one of three American Heart Association awards to fund the Bugher Network of Centers of Excellence in Hemorrhagic Stroke Research.
The award recognizes and launches a hemorrhagic stroke research program into a nationally recognized network. Yale projects are focused on disadvantaged populations and cover basic, clinical, and population science.
The Yale Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit aims to provide the most effective, advanced, and empathic care possible to critically ill patients with nervous system injuries. Our goal is to deliver exceptional clinical care and offer cutting-edge clinical research to every patient we touch in an effort to be one of the leading acute neuroscience centers in the world. We constantly work towards this goal by adhering to the following values:
- Lead with compassion and kindness
- Treat every patient as if he/she is family
- Engender honesty, respect, support, and open communication amongst our multidisciplinary team members
- Pursue scientific advances, which directly improve the lives of our patients, relentlessly
- Foster growth and development of our trainees, who are tomorrow's leaders in the clinical neurosciences
