Yale Cardiovascular Medicine and the Yale New Haven Health Heart and Vascular Center (HVC) are pleased to announce Sounok Sen, MD, as the new Medical Director of the Cardiac Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support Program.
Sen received his undergraduate degree in bioengineering from University of Pennsylvania, his medical degree from Yale School of Medicine, and completed his residency in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital prior to fellowship in cardiovascular medicine and advanced heart failure at Duke University Medical Center. At every stage of his training, Sen received recognition and was the recipient of awards of excellence. We were fortunate to recruit Sen back to to Yale as an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine in 2020. During this time as a member of the faculty, he has gained a reputation as a master clinician and teacher including being awarded the prestigious fellowship teaching prize by the Cardiovascular Medicine fellows in 2021. More recently, he has assumed the role of co-director of the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy program, was elected to serve as the Cardiovascular Medicine liaison to the Faculty Advisory Council and has served a key role within the HVC Clinical Trials program, helping oversee the heart failure trials. We are excited to work with Sen as he closely partners with Arnar Geirsson MD, as Surgical Director and Tariq Ahmad, MD, MPH, as the Director of the Comprehensive Heart Failure Program to expand our innovative clinical pathways for patients with heart failure.
Please join us in congratulating Sen and wishing him great success in this leadership position.
