The Trauma and Mental Health Lab conducts research in a variety of trauma contexts using a range of research methodologies.

Some examples of our current projects:

  • A longitudinal, mixed-methods cohort study of low-income mothers who experienced Hurricane Katrina

  • An epidemiologic survey of residents of Houston, TX, regarding their experiences with Hurricane Harvey and the COVID-19 pandemic

  • Research on the mental health consequences of chronic climate change indicators and climate change anxiety

  • A mixed-methods, serial cross-sectional study of healthcare workers from 25 academic medical centers throughout the United States

  • A survey of college students regarding their experiences of sexual assault, and post-assault disclosure and reporting

  • An investigation of mental health and wellbeing among young adult children of survivors of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda

  • A survey of persons with disabilities regarding their experiences, mental health, and sources of risk and resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic
