Newborns and Infants

Research Studies: Chawarska Lab

We are currently recruiting babies for a highly innovative study examining links between brain connectivity and social development in infancy. Participation includes a brain imaging session at 2 to 4 weeks of age and in-person follow-up visits at 4, 6, 12, and 18 months. The brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) occurs while babies nap naturally and is entirely non-invasive. The follow-up visits involve monitoring of cognitive, social, and language development by expert clinicians and researchers.

We recruit newborns who have a family member with autism (e.g., parent, sibling, aunt/uncle, or a cousin) and newborns who do not have relatives with autism..

The MRI scan takes place at 300 Cedar St., New Haven, CT. All other visits occur at the Yale Social and Affective Neuroscience of Autism Program at 300 George St., New Haven, CT. We provide free and convenient parking.

Families receive financial compensation up to $350.
