CT Breast Cancer Survivor Helps Single Mothers with Disease Pay for Housing
Roberta Lombardi shares how the organization she founded after her own bout with early breast cancer in 2016. Infinite Strength, now in its fifth year, provides six months of housing funding up to $6,000 per year for single mothers with metastatic breast cancer. So far in 2023 alone, the organization, which the 56-year-old Lombardi runs from her home without a salary, has given out more than $300,000 in grants to single mothers with stage 4 breast cancer whose incomes are 200 percent below the poverty line.
Lombardi believes it's the only organization of its kind nationally that supports under-served single mothers facing stage 4 cancer with six months of rent or mortgage money and extras such as food cards, day retreats, a holiday tea and a caring ear to help women keep their family together during a difficult time.
