Biography
Simone Blaser an Infectious Disease fellow at Yale University. She is currently performing post-doctoral research in the laboratory of Dr. Akiko Iwasaki in the Department of Immunobiology at Yale, where she is exploring the intersection between respiratory pathogens/disease, the nasal microbiota, and the local lymphoid tissue of the nose. She completed residency in Internal Medicine at New York University. She has been published in Diagnosis, JAMA, MBio, Clinical Correlations, and Intima: A Journal of Narrative Medicine, and has an upcoming piece in CID. Prior to becoming a physician, she worked in book publishing, where she was involved in developing what would become the #1 New York Times bestseller When Breath Becomes Air with the late Dr. Paul Kalanithi. Her poetry was included in a collection on New York City haiku published by The New York Times.
