Biography

Kristin received her Bachelor's degree in Health Science from Quinnipiac University. She completed the Entry Level Master's Physician Assistant Program in 2007 where she graduated with honors. She was certified as an EMT-B from 2005-2011. She received her Master's degree from Quinnipiac University and graduated from the PA program in 2009. After receiving her NCCPA board certification she went on to practice in the field of Internal Medicine for 2 years.

She joined the Yale Interstitial Lung Disease Center for Excellence from 2012-2021 where primary areas of interest are the diagnosis and treatment of interstitial lung diseases (ILD). Yale ILD offers clinical drug trials for patients with IPF, scleroderma and other forms of pulmonary fibrosis. Kristin was a sub investigator at Yale for these studies. She was a support group leader for patients and family members with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and Scleroderma.

In 2021, she joined Yale Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology with a primary focus of treating patients with autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), systemic sclerosis, Sjogren's syndrome, mixed connective tissue disease, inflammatory myopathies, vasculitis, fibromyalgia, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and other rheumatic disorders.

Overview

Kristin Curran, PA-C, is a physician assistant for Yale Medicine Rheumatology specializing in the management of autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, sjogren’s, myositis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, gout, and other rheumatologic diseases. She is a member of the American College of Rheumatology.

“I can remember aspiring to be a practicing clinician since grade school,” Curran says. “I have always had a passion for the practice of medicine and helping others with a tremendous amount of empathy.”

She shifted her focus from Internal Medicine to Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine where she practiced with Yale’s Interstitial Lung Disease Center of Excellence for nearly a decade after a close family contact was diagnosed with chronic lung disease. She treated a range of diseases including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, scleroderma, connective tissue disease and overlap syndromes, sarcoidosis, and occupational-related exposures, including silicosis and asbestosis.

In addition to caring for interstitial lung disease patients, she was a patient support group leader for patients with scleroderma in collaboration with the Scleroderma Foundation and a co-leader for Yale’s Pulmonary Fibrosis support group with support from the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. She was also a sub-investigator on Yale’s clinical trials for patients with IPF, fibrotic ILD and scleroderma.
