Overview
Brian Clark, MD, is a pulmonologist who cares for patients in the Yale Asthma & Airway Disease Program. He treats a broad range of pulmonary diseases, and specializes in severe and difficult-to-control asthma. He has a special interest in cardiopulmonary exercise testing.
“The rewards in working with the severe asthma population is that with proper patient education and the application of the right therapy we often can transform people’s lives,” Dr. Clark says. “We have patients who were limited in all aspects of their life by their asthma who are now able to function fully.”
The latest therapies available for treating asthma—combined with thoughtful care—have made it possible prevent exacerbations in patients who were previously dependent on steroids or were frequently hospitalized, Dr. Clark says. He can give patients who are interested the opportunity participate in multiple clinical trials. “This makes it profoundly rewarding to be an asthma provider in this era,” he says.
In addition to proving outpatient care, Dr. Clark cares for intensive care unit (ICU) patients and is interested in complex ventilator management.
