August 30, 2023

Thomas J. McMahon, PhD, professor emeritus of psychiatry and in the Child Study Center, was one of the 132 fellows elected by the American Psychological Association’s (APA) Board of Directors and Council of Representatives.

The election took place in August at the APA’s annual convention.

APA fellow status is an honor bestowed upon members who have made outstanding contributions to the field of psychology.

McMahon was named a fellow in the Society of Child and Family Policy and Practice (APA Division 37) in recognition of the contributions he has made to policy, research, training, and practice designed to improve the well-being of children, adolescents, and young adults living in fragile family systems, particularly family systems affected by parental addiction.
