Why did you choose medicine?
I loved that internal medicine was a very broad specialty encompassing all the bodily systems and that it offered immense satisfaction in diagnosing and treating complex medical conditions. The field emphasizes a holistic approach to patient care while fostering continuous learning and professional growth. It also provides excellent research opportunities.
Why did you choose Yale Department of Internal Medicine for your fellowship?
Choosing Yale for my fellowship was driven by several factors that align with my professional and personal goals. It offers a unique combination of academic excellence, clinical care, and research experience. The opportunity to work alongside distinguished faculty members and leaders in the field was compelling and offered excellent mentorship opportunities. I was also drawn to Yale’s dedication to providing high-quality patient care with a strong foundation in evidence-based practice and research.
What was your path to Yale?
I was born and raised in India and completed my medical school at Government Medical College Kottayam in Kerala, India. After moving to the US, I gained diverse clinical experience through rotations in various hospitals and worked as a research fellow in breast medical oncology at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. I then pursued my internal medicine residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. Following my residency, I joined Yale School of Medicine for my Geriatrics fellowship training.
