About Yale Geriatrics
Our origins go back fifty years to 1968, when the Continuing Care Unit was created at Yale New Haven Hospital to assist older patients who had lost function during hospitalization to return home.
Since then, we have grown exponentially, with more than 25 faculty members who are dedicated to improving the independence and quality of life of older adults through research, education, and clinical care.
In 2022, Terri Fried, MD, became the section chief of the Section of Geriatrics. The leadership, faculty, and staff of the section created a strategic plan that outlines the mission, vision, and future strategic initiatives of the section.
