Dhruv Jani, DO, Fellow (Geriatrics)

Q: Why did you choose Yale Department of Medicine for your fellowship?

A: I chose Yale because of the incredible opportunities to learn and grow as a physician. Yale’s geriatrics program is one of the best in the country and provides us with many learning opportunities. Whether it’s the nursing homes, the VA hospital, or outpatient clinics, we really get to appreciate the nuances of elderly care. I plan on using this year to really learn more about geriatric syndromes and develop the tools needed to effectively care for my age-gifted patients.

Q: What is your 5-year goal? 10-year? Overall career?

A: I would like to work as a geriatrician and serve the needs of particularly socioeconomic disparate populations. I think my ideal job would be a mix of geriatric primary care, along with some dementia consultative work.

Q: What is a fun fact about you?

A: I am a huge movie buff and have already watched half of IMDB’s top 250 films! I hope to watch the rest before graduation.

Q: Perks of living in New Haven? Connecticut?

A: Definitely the food! New Haven is full of so many amazing restaurants filled with many diverse options. New Haven and Connecticut also have so many beautiful parks to explore.
