Diversity

DICE provides outreach to strengthen the pipeline of diverse individuals for healthcare and biomedical careers; in regard to diversity, our ultimate goal is to identify and recruit talented individuals from diverse backgrounds. To accomplish this, we partner with trainees and faculty to support pipeline programs at every stage of education:

DICE works directly with medical student groups such as:

  • Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA)
  • Committee on Diversity, Inclusion, and Social Justice (CDISJ)
  • Outpatients
  • South Asian Medically-oriented Students Association (SAMoSA)
  • Student Diversity Committee
  • Student National Medical Association (SNMA) / Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA)
  • Women in Medicine (WIM)
  • Yale First Generation/Low Income (YFLI)
  • Yale Native American Health Professions (YNAHP)
  • Yale BBS Diversity & Inclusion Collective (YBDIC)
  • Yale Society for the Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (Yale SACNAS)

DICE supports a number of health and science pipeline programs such as:

  • Youth Science Enrichment Program (YSEP)
  • Health Professions Recruitment Exposure Program (HPREP)
  • Yale Summer Enrichment Medical Academy (YSEMA)
  • Minority Association of Pre-Med Students (MAPS) Mentorship Program

PhD Student Support

DICE also works directly to support underrepresented PhD students within the Biomedical and Biological Sciences (BBS) Program. Yale Minority Scientist Research Network (YMSRN) is a group that represents such students.
