Dr. Juan Vasquez receives grant for research in childhood cancer

August 01, 2017

Dr. Juan Vasquez, an instructor in the Section of Hematology and Oncology at Yale School of Medicine, has been awarded a fellow grant by the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, the largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants. The grant of $97,500 supports outstanding researchers seeking cures and improved treatments for childhood cancers.

Cancer accounts for more deaths in children than any other disease, according to the foundation. St. Baldrick’s funds, totaling $22 million last year, recognize research experts across the country who are working to develop news cures and treatments to tackle all childhood cancers.

Vasquez, who is also a member of Yale Cancer Center’s Pediatric Hematology & Oncology Program, received his medical education at Yale School of Medicine, Brown Medical School, and Harvard University.
