Installation Overview
There are two types of binary installers provided:- Complete: This is a complete package and includes all necessary files to run BioImage Suite (including VTK, ITK, Tcl/Tk etc.)
- Upgrade: This assumes that BioImage Suite 2.5 is already installed on your computer and does not include any other common files

BioImage Suite 2.6 Installation
Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/VISTA
Two versions are provided one compiled with Visual Studio 2003 and one compiled with Visual Studio 2005. If upgrading use the same version as your existing installation. Also if upgrading install BioImage Suite 2.6 in the same directory as 2.5 (i.e. most likely c:\yale).

Brain Extraction Tool
BioImage Suite 2.x makes use of the FSL Brain Extraction Tool (BET). Unfortunately there are no native versions of FSL for windows. To alleviate this problem we provide a set of custom compiled BET binaries for windows. These are released under the same license as FSL itself, i.e. free for non commercial use. To use these:- Download this zip file
- Unzip it somewhere in your path, e.g. c:\yale\bioimagesuite_extra\bin. A correct installation should have a file called bet.exe (and others of similar name) in c:\yale\bioimagesuite_extra\bin. BioImage Suite will detect the presence of this automatically.
