Internal Medicine - Diversity Committee Meeting: Genetic Counselor Alejandra Oliva, speaking

Alejandra Oliva (they/them/elle) is a clinical Genetic Counselor in the Medical Genetics Department at Yale University’s School of Medicine. They received their genetic counseling training at Sarah Lawrence College, graduating with my Master of Science in Human Genetics in May 2023. Their thesis research, which published earlier this year, focused on transgender and gender diverse individuals' perspectives on how predicted fetal sex and sex chromosomes should be discussed in prenatal care. In addition to advocating for LGBTQ+ practices in Genetics and medicine, Alejandra has a strong interest in improving care and management for both Spanish-speaking and disabled patient populations.
