Hi everyone,
Dia duit (hello) from Cork, Ireland, where Heide and I are visiting our daughter Francesca, a freshman at UCC.
We flew out of Bradley last Thursday evening, landing in Dublin at 4:30A. After renting a manual Nissan Qashqai, we fueled up on coffee, ate a couple of blueberry and chocolate chip muffins, and ventured out into the pre-dawn gloom, driving southwest on the M7. Before long, the sun rose over the emerald countryside, and we pulled into Cork before Francesca woke up.
Since Friday, we’ve been hiking around town and enjoying local fare (and stout), while responding to rapid shifts from cobalt skies to frigid rain. Yesterday, Francesca went with her class on an archeology field trip, leaving me with an afternoon to savor this year’s edition of “Getting to Know You.”
Our 2024 interns will arrive in New Haven on June 11. This morning, you can learn where they were born, read about their hobbies and favorite foods, discover where they go on days off, and recall your own internship as they share their goals for the coming year.
I love getting to know our new interns, and I hope you will too.
