Giving to Yale Nephrology

The faculty and staff of Nephrology are committed to providing our patients with the highest quality, compassionate care. We have extensive programs in patient care, research, and education. The Section of Nephrology is committed to excellence in each of these three activities with the goal for both our faculty and our trainees to be national and international leaders in the field of academic nephrology. We are working hard to save lives and to change lives for the better.

We count on your generous support to help us accomplish our goals. The vision for our department is to provide state-of-the-art care, to train future leaders, and to discover new and novel approaches for the diagnosis and treatment of kidney disease conditions in a safe environment that respects the patient and family, and treats all with compassion and kindness. A gift of any amount is vital to our mission and goals in Yale Nephrology.

To learn more about our work and opportunities to partner with us through charitable giving, please contact Laura Wyrick, Associate Director of Development, laura.wyrick@yale.edu or 203-436-8540.

Below are some examples of how philanthropy can be used to help our missions of research, clinical care, and education.

Named Endowed Professorships

Endowed professorships are the highest honor Yale School of Medicine can bestow upon a faculty member who is distinguished as a leader in medicine. Funding from endowed professorships provide secure, flexible support for a distinguished faculty member’s research and scholarly activities. A professorship can be named for a donor or a loved one, creating an enduring tribute to individual generosity.

Named Endowed Lectureships

Lecture series play an important role in our academic life at Yale School of Medicine. A named endowed lectureship ensures that the Section of Nephrology will have a perpetual financial stream to support scholarly lectures by distinguished leaders in a particular specialty.

Research

The Section of Nephrology is committed to improving patient outcomes. It is important that we continue our deep commitment to research where we continue to be a leader. Please contact Laura Wyrick, Associate Director of Development, at laura.wyrick@yale.edu or 203-436-8540 to learn more about supporting research at Yale Nephrology.

Gifts of Marketable Securities

A gift of appreciated securities you have held for more than one year is frequently the most economical way to give. You will be eligible to take a federal income tax deduction equal to the fair market value of the stock on the date of the gift for up to 30% of your adjusted gross income and will not have to recognize the appreciation as a capital gain.

Planned Giving and Bequests

With a planned giving strategy tailored to your needs, you can put your assets to work for Yale, while you and the University share in the benefits.

  • IRA Rollover
  • Charitable Gift Annuities and Charitable Lead Trusts
  • Real Estate
  • Bequests

Corporate Matching Gifts

Your gift can have an even greater impact if your company has a matching gift program. In some cases, your spouse’s company may match your gift. The impact of your gift may be doubled or possibly tripled. (Some companies also match gifts made by retirees.)
