Kayla Yup is a Global Health Scholar and Yale Journalism Scholar majoring in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. She volunteers as a Medical Debt & Insurance Counselor for HAVEN Free Clinic and has reported on health policy topics — ranging from the Medicaid unwinding to nurse staffing legislation — for various national and local media outlets. She aspires to improve access to quality health care, particularly among vulnerable populations, as well as to understand how policy can best support and regulate the provision of health care. Kayla aims to pursue a career that involves health policy, science, medicine, and writing.
