Matthew Austin, MD, has been named an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine (Medical Oncology) and cares for patients with melanoma and genitourinary cancers as part of the Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center in Westerly, and one day a week dedicated to the care of patients with melanoma at the Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center in Waterford.
Dr. Austin received his medical degree from University at Buffalo School of Medicine and completed his residency at Brown University where he was Chief Resident. He completed medical oncology-hematology fellowship training at Yale Cancer Center in 2021 before joining Brown University as an Assistant Professor of Medicine. During his training, Dr. Austin collaborated with Dr. Harriet Kluger on studies looking at utilizing a large-scale autoantibody assay to profile the humoral response to immunotherapy in patients with cancer and RNA sequencing and mutational analysis of tumors in patients with checkpoint inhibitor-induced type I diabetes.
