Overview
Rita Abi-Raad, MD, is a pathologist who specializes in cytopathology, a field that identifies diseases by examining cells under a microscope. She focuses on diagnosing thyroid, head and neck, and gynecologic cancers, carefully evaluating cellular samples to guide clinical decisions.
“Pathology allows me to care about my patients at critical steps in their medical journeys, provide meaningful insight into their disease processes, and drives management plans,” Dr. Abi-Raad says. “I work in a methodical and discriminating fashion to solve complex problems and reach a final diagnosis.”
As an associate professor of pathology at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Abi-Raad conducts research that seeks to refine diagnostic approaches for thyroid, head and neck, and gynecologic cancers.
Dr. Abi-Raad completed her medical training at Saint Joseph University School of Medicine in Lebanon and pursued a residency in pathology and a fellowship in cytopathology at Yale New Haven Hospital.
