My name is Stephanie Carter and I am third year general surgery resident at Yale-New Haven Hospital. I completed a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science with a minor in Inequality Studies at Cornell University. I attended medical school at Howard University where I received multiple honors and collaborated in several research studies through the Surgical Outcomes group. Throughout my time at Yale, I serve as President of the Minority Housestaff Organization, Surgery Clerkship liaison and Health Career Collaborative pipeline Co-Director. My current research focuses on racial disparities amongst critically ill patients and vascular surgical outcomes amongst frail geriatric veterans. My aim is to not only become a future surgical program director but also ameliorate the issues of surgical education, health care policy, and provide care to the underserved.
