Overview
Daniel E. Kim, MD, is a general and critical care surgeon specializing in trauma, surgical critical care, burns, and both emergency and elective general surgery.
A United States Army veteran, Dr. Kim served four tours in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria, and was stationed in Germany and Korea. He retired as a colonel after 20 years of active-duty service, bringing a wealth of experience to his civilian medical practice.
Dr. Kim is an assistant professor of surgery at Yale School of Medicine, where he serves as an instructor of advanced trauma life support. His research interests include trauma and burn resuscitation, soft tissue infections, skin substitute grafts, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Dr. Kim received his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and completed his residency in general surgery at William Beaumont Army Medical Center. He further specialized with fellowship training in surgical critical care at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and in burns at the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research.
