- Faculty Meeting: Dean Brown joins us next Wednesday, Jan. 8, at TAC Auditorium. In-person attendance is expected unless Zooming in from a DN hospital. Submit questions in advance.
- FDAQ: Complete the online FDAQ ASAP to schedule your 1:1. A personalized link has been emailed to each faculty.
- Comp Clarifications: The faculty comp plan now includes a clarified description of z-compensation, on-call responsibilities, and plan eligibility. Faculty can access the document via the intranet.
Clinical Affairs
- COVID+ Guidelines: Updated guidelines recommend postponing non-urgent surgeries until the patient meets the criteria to end transmission precautions.
- GLP-1 Guidance: Research-driven updates for surgery patients on GLP-1RAs include extended 24+ fasting and holding meds the day-of.
- Add-on Levels: System-wide case priority guidelines go into effect Jan. 18.
Education
- MLK Jr. Lectureship: Clear your calendar for a special combined grand rounds with former Surgeon General, Dr. Jerome Adams, Friday, Jan. 17, at Harkness Auditorium. Participation is mandatory.
- Winter Student Social: Meet and mingle with 50+ surgery-curious students, Friday, Jan. 31, 3–5 PM, at the Harkness Ballroom. All faculty and trainees are encouraged to attend.
- Anatomy Lab: Review the anatomy lab schedule for volunteer teaching opportunities. Email Danette Morrison to express interest.
- MedEd Day Abstracts: Submit workshop and oral presentation abstracts by Jan. 10. Poster submissions open Feb. 1.
- Inclusion Series: Register for YSM's “Perspectives for Inclusion” spring series, which begins Jan. 13 with a discussion on disability in academic medicine.
Research
- Funding Applications: Submit applications to the Pre-Award team at least four weeks before the deadline. Workflows and forms are posted to the Intranet.
- R21 Opportunity: Secondary Analysis and Integration of Existing Data to Elucidate Cancer Risk and Related Outcomes (Clinical Trials Not Allowed). Applications due Feb. 16.
- Personalized Grant Search: Tailored federal funding searches are available for faculty on Investigator/CS/Traditional tracks. CES track faculty can request support via email.
