Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships | Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships are funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Higher Education Act, Title VI. Fellowships are available to graduate and professional school students whose academic work includes foreign language study and whose career plans include teaching, public service or business related to African Studies, European Studies, or Middle East Studies. The eligible languages for each competition are announced on the application. FLAS fellowships are available for the summer and for the academic year. Only U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. are eligible. |
Lindsay Fellowship for Research in Africa | The Lindsay Fellowship for Research in Africa supports grants to graduate and professional students for summer research in order to increase understanding of Africa among Yale students and faculty. Highest priority will be given in the following order: (1) graduate and professional school students; (2) junior faculty. Only those returning to Yale in the semester following the award are eligible to receive an award. One or more fellowships of up to $3,000 will be awarded for summer travel and fieldwork expenses in Africa for relevant research, study projects, internships or conferences (paper presentation at conference required). All applicants must apply through the Yale Student Grants & Fellowships database. |
NIH Director's Early Independence Award | This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) issued by the National Institutes of Health solicits applications for the NIH Director’s Early Independence Award (DP5) from institutions/organizations that propose to appoint and support exceptional early career scientists directly following the completion of their PhD (or equivalent) or MD (or equivalent) training into an independent academic research position, thereby omitting the traditional post-doctoral training period from their career path. |
NIH Extramural Loan Repayment Program | NIH wants to encourage outstanding health professionals to pursue careers in biomedical, behavioral, social, and clinical research. If you commit at least two years to conducting qualified research funded by a domestic nonprofit organization or U.S. federal, state, or local government entity, NIH may repay up to $35,000 of your qualified student loan debt per year, including most undergraduate, graduate, and medical school loans.
