Stephanie Bowers

Stephanie Bowers, MD, is an obstetrician-gynecologist who specializes in delivering babies and caring for women in labor.

Dr. Bowers majored in classics as an undergraduate and hadn’t planned on a career in medicine until she took a part-time job at an Ob/Gyn’s office and knew it was the field for her.

“I saw how they treated all aspects of women’s health, including not just childbirth but gynecologic issues, menopause, breast cancer, and anything that can help women,” Dr. Bowers says.

Dr. Bowers spent many years providing the full scope of obstetric and gynecologic care before coming to Yale to focus on being a laborist. In this role, Dr. Bowers works closely with a group of midwives and medical residents, providing support when needed. “We work collaboratively, and I enjoy that, in addition to working with patients and being their safety net and making sure everything goes smoothly during delivery,” she says. “I make sure to explain what we are doing and that they know they are in good hands.”
